Best places to visit in phuket for couples

For us, Phuket was one of the most romantic getaway destinations we had been to where you can relax by an infinity pool, looking at the best nature has to offer and sipping on your favourite cocktails. Not only this, Phuket can cater to almost any budget with affordable accommodation options through to the more exquisite luxury experience.

Kamala Beach

One of the best places to visit in Phuket for couples is the Kamala Beach area. Located only 30 minutes from the airport, this part of the island is known for its beautiful beaches, as well as its range of restaurants and shops. The Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas is the pinnacle of luxury in this area that offers couples a romantic setting, with luxurious villas and a range of activities.

Patong

Patong is located approximately 1 hour south of Phuket international airport and although it has the reputation of being the party capital of Phuket, you can still find tranquility, beauty and luxury for those who want a romantic getaway. We chose to stay at Lubd, a young vibrant hotel which was a pleasant surprise considering it was tagged for backpackers. Conveniently located next door to the Coffee Club (and only 200m from the beach front). The private rooms far exceeded our expectations and we were treated like royalty.

Nai Harn

For couples looking for a more secluded setting, the Nai Harn Beach area is a great option. This part of the island offers beautiful beaches, as well as a range of outdoor activities, beach volleyball, and surfboard hire. The Nai Harn Beach Resort is a popular choice for couples, with an amazing bar for sunset cocktails. Further up the road, you can find the very romantic and secluded Baan Krathing Phuket Resort.

Phi Phi

The Phi Phi Islands are a group of small islands located in the Andaman Sea, off the coast of Phuket in southern Thailand. The islands are known for their beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and stunning natural beauty and an absolute must for anyone visiting Phuket!

The largest and most developed of the Phi Phi Islands is Phi Phi Don. This island is home to the main town and port, where you can find a range of accommodation, dining, and shopping options. The island also has many beautiful beaches, including the popular Maya Bay, which was made famous by the movie "The Beach".

We stayed at the HIP Seaview Resort which was nestled right on the point with an unobstructed view of Phi Phi Don (this place was perfect for a peaceful and romantic getaway, far away from the party side of Phi Phi).

The other main island in the Phi Phi archipelago is Phi Phi Leh. This island is uninhabited, except for a small National Park ranger station, and is known for its stunning natural beauty. The island is home to several beautiful beaches, including Loh Samah Bay and Pileh Lagoon, as well as a variety of wildlife, including monkeys and sea turtles.

Getting to and from Phi Phi

The Phi Phi Islands are accessible for day trips from Phuket, with many tour operators offering boat trips to the islands. To maximize your experience we recommend staying a minimum of 3 nights. The islands are a perfect place for scuba diving, with many dive sites in the area offering great visibility and a variety of marine life.

Kitesurfing in Phuket

Phuket is not the first destination that comes to mind when seeking out kitesurfing locations. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the amount of kiteschools on the island.

The best time of year for kitesurfing in Thailand is from November to April, when the winds are strong and consistent.

One of the best kitesurfing spots in Phuket is Kata Beach. This beach offers a wide stretch of sandy shore and shallow water, making it a great spot for beginners. The beach also has a range of kitesurfing schools and equipment rental shops, making it easy to learn and practice the sport.

Another popular kitesurfing spot in Phuket is Nai Harn Beach. This beach is only small but the bay area is big and protected which also means the wind conditions need to be coming from the south west for consistent riding

Unfortunately, we did not get to fly out kites here as the wind did not arrive until the day we were on route to the airport.

For advanced kitesurfers, the windy and wave-rich conditions at Khao Lak Beach make it a great spot to challenge yourself. The beach also has a range of kitesurfing schools and equipment rental shops, as well as a beautiful natural setting.

Surfing in Phuket

Phuket is typically not a surfers destination when compared to some other South East Asian surf spots. However, there are many surfing expats that have called Phuket home and have found a break to satisfy their needs.

Typically, the surf season in Phuket is from November to April, with the best conditions occurring in December and January. At this time, the water is super warm and the waves have been known to reach up to 3 meters (10 feet) in height.

Here are some surf spots in Phuket:

Kata Beach:

Located on the west coast of Phuket, Kata Beach is probably the most recognised surf spots in Phuket as this is where the surfing community began. You can also rent boards from the beach if your just dropping in (pardon the pun)

Nai Harn Beach:

Located in the south of Phuket, Nai Harn Beach is a little more challenging than Kata Beach, with faster, more powerful waves. This spot is best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers.

Kamala Beach:

Is popular for tourists and surfers alike. There are some beginner beach breaks but more importantly, there are some rocky reef breaks for the more experienced surfer.

Surin Beach:

If you're into sucky shorebreaks (bodyboarders) then this might be the ideal surf spot for you. The headlands might offer some more point break style waves when the conditions are right!

All in all, Phuket has a variety of surf spots to wet the whistle. With a little planning and the right conditions, you’ll be able to find a wave for sure!

Co-working Spaces in Phuket

Thailand is widely known for its remote work lifestyle with the majority of digital nomads flocking to Chiang Mai on the mainland. However, for those who prefer the chilled vibes by the beach (or the party scenes after dusk) then Phuket shapes up to be a pretty good place for coworking!

For instance, the Lubd chain has two locations that house accommodation and coworking. The first location is in Patong  and the other at Karon Beach. Both hostels are in a convenient location, right next to the beaches and attractions. Lubd also offers a range of services, including a co-working space with high-speed internet, a swimming pool, bar and restaurant.

Lub d is also known for its social atmosphere, with regular events and activities for guests to enjoy. In addition to this they also have a range of services, including tour and activity bookings, laundry facilities, and a 24-hour reception.

One of the popular coworking spaces in Phuket is funnily aptly named - The Phuket Co-Working Space. Located in the heart of the island, this space offers a range of private and shared workspaces, as well as meeting rooms and conference facilities. The space caters for remote workers and digital nomads, including high-speed internet, printing services, and a café.

For entrepreneurs and digital nomads looking for a more secluded setting, the WORKZONE Phuket is a great option. Located in the Nai Harn Beach area, this space offers a peaceful and productive working environment, with high-speed internet, and everything you would expect from a coworking space.

Overall, there are many convenient and comfortable coworking spaces in Phuket. Whether you're looking for a vibrant and collaborative environment or a secluded and peaceful setting, there's a coworking space in Phuket that will suit the budding entrepreneur or remote worker.
